*VIDEO* Tiverton Police Department Seeks Applicants for Police Officer Positions

TIVERTON — Chief Patrick Jones is pleased to announce that the Tiverton Police Department is seeking qualified candidates to join the department. 

Applications can be found on policeapp.com. Only online applications will be considered. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 3. 

The department expects to fill two police officer positions through this round of hiring. 

The Tiverton Police Department is comprised of 31 sworn officers and 12 civilian support staff. The department also boasts opportunities to participate in a department-funded Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) program, Honor Guard, detail shifts at the local casino and training at the department’s firing range.

The Tiverton Police Department is also home to Police Cat Scrappy.

Minimum application requirements include:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must meet at least one of the following requirements:
    • Two years of college study from an accredited university and shall provide documentation of the successful completion of at least 60 credits AND/OR
    • Two years of honorable active duty military service AND/OR four  years of honorable Reserve or National Guard Service AND/OR
    • A graduate of the Rhode Island Municipal Academy or its equivalent AND/OR two years of prior full-time municipal public safety / law enforcement experience

Through the application process, candidates must successfully complete a Physical Agility Test, Oral Review Boards, background investigation, interview with Tiverton Personnel Board, psychological examination and medical examination, and must receive recommendation by the Police Chief to the Tiverton Town Administrator and Town Council.
