Thirty Day Push Up Challenge

The Tiverton Police Department value our veterans and the sacrifices they make on a daily basis to serve and protect our nation regardless of peace, or war. These sentiments about our veterans ring true throughout our department unanimously, especially with the recent tragedy that involved the deaths of eleven marines, one corpsman, and one soldier during the withdrawal of Afghanistan.
This respect our department members share, along with a suggestion made by Bryan Sanford of Sanford and Son LTD. has developed into an intense desire to do something for all our veterans (Tiverton and beyond) this Veteran’s Day. It is our hope that we can persuade our amazing residents of Tiverton to join us in this endeavor.
Bryan Sanford and Sergeant John LeDuc have agreed to undertake a thirty-day push-up challenge between the dates of October 10th, 2021, and November 10th, 2021. The goal of this challenge is to perform as many push-ups as they can in a thirty-day period. Each has pledged, at minimum, to donate $.05 per push-up completed throughout the thirty-day challenge in honor of a chosen veteran that has had an impact on them during their life. The veteran they choose will be honored via a post consisting of a photograph and a small write-up detailing their veteran’s service on the Tiverton Police Department Facebook page, as well as, Sanford and Son’s page.
We encourage anyone that would like to participate, or be a part of this fundraiser to contact Sergeant John LeDuc at jleduc@tivertonpoliceri.com . Sergeant LeDuc can email you a pledge sheet, or you can obtain one physically at the Tiverton Police Department’s dispatch window starting Monday, September 27th. All pledges and monetary donations, along with a picture and small write-up of the service member you are dedicating your challenge to must be submitted to Sergeant LeDuc (via email, or dropping it off to the dispatch window at the station) no later than Saturday, October 9th. These dedications will be posted throughout the dates the challenge is taking place.
You can choose the value of your push-ups and the amount you pledge to complete during the thirty days. Minimum push-up pledges will start at $.05 per push-up and increase in increments of $.05 up to $.25 per push-up. We welcome anyone who would like to submit a short, creative video clip of themselves completing their push-ups to Sergeant LeDuc, who would be more than happy to share that video on the department’s social media (for example, performing push-ups at Battleship Cove, or in front of the Marine Memorial in Fall River, MA).
Push-ups are NOT REQUIRED to participate in this fundraiser, if you would like to make a monetary pledge and have the pledge dedicated to a special veteran in your life, we will absolutely honor your pledge with your veteran’s posting on our Facebook page(s).
On November 10th, 2021 between 11 am and 2 pm we (The Tiverton Police Department and Sanford and Son LTD) will host a luncheon (location yet to be determined) for any pledgee that wishes to join us for lunch. If possible, we highly suggest you bring the veteran you dedicated your challenge to for lunch, as well, because your special veteran’s lunch expenses will be covered by the Tiverton Police Department. In fact, any veteran that stops in and joins us for lunch that day will not be required to pay for their meal (more details regarding the luncheon coming soon).
Proceeds of the pledges raised will be donated to Operation Stand Down Rhode Island Please feel free to get the word out there about this challenge!
