The Patrol or Uniform Division provides 24-hour police protection divided into three (3) eight-hour shifts or watches. Each watch is commanded by a Lieutenant and supervised by a Sergeant, who assumes the Lieutenant’s responsibilities on the Lieutenant’s days off. The Uniform Division is responsible for the initial investigation of all citizen complaints, the enforcement of all State and Local laws, the enforcement of all traffic-related laws, and the investigation of all motor vehicle accidents. The Uniform Division also maintains community safety, security, and quality of life through professionalism and commitment to its citizens.
The Department operates with marked and unmarked vehicles. The uniformed patrol fleet is equipped with the latest in communications and emergency response equipment. Each uniformed patrol vehicle utilizes mobile data technology that allows officers instant access to Federal, State, and Department databases.
Officers also have Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) at their disposal in every uniformed patrol vehicle to be used in the event an officer is called on to assist a citizen suffering from cardiac arrest.
